Dreaming of being an Actor

Do You Know What you Truly Desire?

We are all different with the possibility of greatness. It comes down to what you choose in life. But first, do you know what you really want? Oh! That word want! Did you know it really means “to lack”? How about we use desire or would like to have, rather than something that resonates with lack. In this blog I will discuss paths, desires, targets and more.

If we desire a life of ease, joy, and abundance, we must continuously create our lives. No one can do it for us — and no one path looks the same for everyone.

Robert Kiyosaki is a great example of this. In his book Rich Dad Poor Dad, he shares the story of two father figures and how each approached life differently. One believed in staying safe — holding a job, earning a steady paycheck, and coasting along. The other chose to continuously create, building businesses and assets, taking risks, and expanding his skills. Robert didn’t just accept one viewpoint — he learned from both and then took jobs and opportunities that gave him the experience he needed to build the life he desired.

The same is true for us. All our choices have led us to where we are right now. The question is: what will you choose next?

Some choices bring small results, while others open doors to big changes. The key is to keep asking: What can I choose today that will bring me closer to what I truly desire? Don’t get stuck trying to figure out the “right” answer — asking the question itself invites opportunities and possibilities to show up. The trick is to notice them, even when they don’t appear the way you imagine.

Simone Milasas shares a great example: a woman wanted to be an actor in the movies. She asked the questions and followed the energy. Her next step? A job at a movie rental store. Doesn’t sound like the path to Hollywood, right? But while working there, she met a well-known producer. Their conversations about film opened the door that moved her forward in her acting career.

So ask yourself: What do I truly desire — for me, for the world, for the universe? It’s okay to think small, but also dare to think big. Each choice is a step in creating the life you want.

Some areas to think about when it comes to targets:

  • Money
  • Relationships
  • Geography (living and traveling)
  • Business (revenue streams and more)
  • Body

Goals vs. Targets – Simone Milasas describes the difference between these in her book Joy of Business. I highly recommend the book. But basically the energy of goals has a lot of projections, expectations and judgements. They tend to lock you in and stick you in conclusions. Targets are more fluid and allow for more possibilities. Try changing your words, it might just lead you down a new path toward wonderful possibilities!

Once you have your list of targets (and make sure you have some of all sizes, even bigger than you think possible) you can start asking questions. My favorite is “What would it take to have this?” Another favorite is, “What can I be, do, or create today that will bring me closer to my targets?”

Try not to come to conclusions as you ask questions, just leave it open and the possibilities will find their way to you. Sometimes a path toward what you desire will look very different than what you though (as I mentioned above). Just make sure to stay open and try not to close yourself off with decisions and conclusions. Always be in the question. Want to dive in on being in the question?
